Redding Teen Performs At National Magicians Convention REDDING, Conn. -- Redding resident Lee Winters made any doubts about his fledgling talents disappear like magic recently when he performed before members of the Society of American Magicians. Lee, 15, was one of only five young magicians in the nation chosen to show off their bag of tricks before the main show each night at the society’s national conference last week in Philadelphia. Power Back On After Tractor-Trailer Knocks Down New Rochelle Utility Lines NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- Power and cable television services have been restored to a New Rochelle neighborhood after a tractor-trailer truck knocked down wires late Tuesday, according to Verizon FiOS1 News. The big rig driver told police that he hit low-hanging wires while going down Meadow Street, FiOS1 reported. Police received numerous 911 calls around 11 p.m. and Con Ed crews were dispatched to the scene, FiOS1 reported. The lights were restored shortly after midnight to about a dozen homes on the street and cable television crews also made repairs, according to the FiOS1 report. …

Thunderstorms Will Accompany Heat, Humidity In Fairfield FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Thunderstorms and showers are expected to hit a hot and humid Fairfield County on Wednesday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. Some of the showers could produce heavy rain as temperatures are expected to stick at about 85 degrees. It will be more of the same Wednesday night, with temperatures dropping to around 70. There will be a chance for more thunderstorms Thursday after 2 p.m., and some could produce heavy rains, the weather service said. It will be cloudy with a high near 76 degrees.

New York Requires More Back-To-School Immunizations WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- State immunization rules have changed and children starting kindergarten this fall won’t be able to wait until they’re six to get certain shots, according to the state Education Department. Police Arrest Suspect In Yonkers Stabbing YONKERS, N.Y. -- One person was stabbed and another arrested in the southwest section of Yonkers early Sunday, according to a News 12 report. Police said the incident started around 3:45 a.m. in an apartment on School Street and spilled outside, News 12 said. Police officers, who were patrolling nearby at the time, responded and took the victim, who was wounded in the back, to Westchester Medical Center, News 12 reported. They also made an arrest.
