Briarcliff Warns Of Discolored Water During Hydrant Flushing BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. – Crews are out this week flushing fire hydrants in Briarcliff Manor, according to Village Manager Philip E. Zegarelli. Flushing -- which began Monday and runs until Thursday -- starts about 9 a.m. and ends about 4 p.m. each day, Zegarelli said in his June 26 report. Since the process could cause water to become discolored, residents are advised to avoid doing their laundry during those days, until 5 p.m. Past laboratory testing has shown that the water, though cloudy, did not contain any harmful bacteria, Zegarelli said. On select Thursday and Fridays in July and August, children, ages 6-10, will be able to improve their reading skills and gain confidence by reading aloud to therapy dogs, the library said. The city’s school district is offering a free meals program to all children, ages 18 and younger.
