During a Board of Education meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 11, the Connetquot Central School District honored the three staff members – Lori Stellwagen, Amy Loretta, and Samantha Gallo — for saving the lives of two students who were choking. Quartet Steals Lotto Tickets, Cash From Long Island Store Police are on the lookout for four people who broke into a Long Island convenience store, taking off with hundreds of dollars and tons of lottery tickets. The burglary happened at 3:13 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 6 in Oceanside, according to Nassau County Police. Two-Time Long Island Car Thief Nabbed, Police Announce A man who managed to steal three cars on two separate occasions from a Long Island car dealership has been taken into custody nearly a year after the crimes, police announced. On Monday, Oct. 2, Andrew Ponton, age 21 of Queens, was arrested for his alleged role in the theft of multiple cars from a Freeport car dealership, according to Nassau County Police. Over 80 Tickets, Arrests Issued At Mall On Long Island In just one day, over 80 tickets were given and multiple arrests were made of mallgoers for various violations, including two larcenies and a fake inspection sticker, authorities said.
