Third Time's A Charm: Burglar, 29, Nabbed On Long Island After Multiple Attempts A 29-year-old home burglar was arrested after breaking into a Long Island – and attempting to do the same to two other houses, police said. At approximately 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 17, a 72-year-old man woke up to the sound of his alarm system going off in his Russell Gardens home. When the victim left his bedroom, he came face-to-face with 29-year-old Curtis Slyke, police said. Slyke grabbed an item and fled the Wensley Drive home on foot. $77K Scam: Man Arrested For Fake Check Scheme On Long Island, Police Say A New Jersey man was nabbed after he scammed a Long Island law firm out of over $70,000 by using a fraudulent check, police said. Nassau County Police announced that Osokam Ekufia, 44, of Newark, was arrested for the larceny, which happened in October 2022 in Massapequa. On Oct. 5, 2022, a Massapequa law firm received a check from Ekufia worth $84,620.00. The check was meant to be placed into an escrow account, and once it cleared, $77,500 was to be deposited into a TD Bank account. Drawbridge Replacement Will Close Parkway On Long Island Transportation officials have announced a new set of closures for a parkway on Long Island. Starting Friday, Oct. 20, the Loop Parkway in Hempstead will be closed overnight, the New York State Department of Transportation announced. The closure, which will last from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 21 weather permitting, will facilitate an ongoing project to replace the steel deck on the drawbridge over Long Creek. Man Exposes, Touches Himself In Front Of Teens On Long Island: Police A Long Island man has been arrested after police said he exposed and touched himself in front of a group of teen girls, the youngest being 13. The incidents allegedly occurred on Tuesday, Oct. 17, and Wednesday, Oct. 18, according to Nassau County Police. On Wednesday, Oct. 11, Nassau County Police arrested the following men as part of its “Project 21” initiative: Mohamad Hasan, age 62 of Elmhurst; Edward Coughlin, age 39 of Seaford; Tony Torres Navarro, age 42 of Locust Valley; and Vikram V.
