School Bus, 2 Cars Collide On Long Island's Southern State Parkway Seven children were on a school bus when it collided with two passenger vehicles on the Southern State Parkway on Long Island, police said. It happened on Thursday, Oct. 26 in Hempstead. Just after 3 p.m., the two cars and the school bus — carrying seven children and one driver — crashed into each other near Exit 19 on the westbound side, according to New York State Police. Woman Hit, Killed At Long Island Intersection A woman died after being struck by a vehicle in a Long Island intersection, authorities said. It happened on Tuesday, Oct. 24 at approximately 6:50 a.m. in West Hempstead, according to Nassau County Police. Cathy Leary, age 75,  was crossing Cornwell Avenue at the intersection of Wildwood Road when she was struck by a 2019 Hyundai SUV that was traveling east on Cornwell Avenue. Leary, a resident of West Hempstead, was pronounced dead at the scene by medics. The driver, who was 19 years old, remained at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

18-Year-Old Nabbed In Stamford For Stealing Car, Credit Cards In Darien, Police Say A man has been arrested after he stole a car from a Connecticut residence and later used the owner’s credit cards at a rest stop, police said. On Wednesday, Oct. 18 in Fairfield County, 18-year-old Robert Barbera was arrested by Darien Police officers in the city of Stamford, the department reported.
