Malloy's Proposed Transportation 'Lock Box' Measure Fails HARTFORD, CONN. – A proposed constitutional amendment, which would have protected transportation funding, passed in the state Senate but was defeated in the state House of Representatives on Tuesday, according to a report in the ctpost. New Rochelle Hopes To Boost Shopping With Free Holiday Parking NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – New Rochelle is moving to boost holiday shopping with free parking in certain of its municipal lots, city officials said. Free two-hour parking will be in effect from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. from now through Thursday, Dec. 31, in off-street lots controlled by meters or space machines. The free parking deal does not include, they said: New Roc City's garage, the New Rochelle Transit Center, and permit parking. Normal parking resumes on Saturday, Jan. 2.

Yorktown Students Spark Smiles At Holiday Electric Lights Parade YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- Members of the Yorktown High School band bought holiday cheer to shoppers and paradegoers this past weekend, school officials said. Using their voices, instruments, and battery-operated lights, the merry band of singers and musicians delighted onlookers with their caroling and playing. It was all done to promote the town’s annual Holiday Electric Lights Parade, which is co-sponsored by the Yorktown and Mohegan Lake fire companies. Festivities on Saturday, Dec. 5, began on Front Street downtown and wrapped up with a holiday tree lighting at the Jack DeVito Memorial Field.
