Putnam Valley Man Charged With DWI In Cortlandt Stop CORTLANDT, N.Y. – A Putnam Valley man faces charges after he was stopped by police Saturday, Dec. 5, on Sprout Brook Road in Cortlandt. Warren S. Schiele, 50, was charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor. State police said Schiele was initially pulled over for failing to stop at a stop sign and for having an inadequate tail light. Schiele was given a breath test and was found to be over the limit, with a Blood Alcohol Content of .11 percent, state police said. He was released and is to appear in the Town of Cortlandt Justice Court on Dec. 21, state police said.

Woman Charged With Stealing Jewelry From Kohl's In Cortlandt CORTLANDT, N.Y. -- An Ossining woman faces shoplifting charges after police said she stole jewelry from the Kohl’s department store in Cortlandt. Ana Cochancela, 35, was arrested on Sunday, Dec. 6, at the store, state police said. She was charged with petit larceny, a Class A misdemeanor. Police said that the store’s loss-prevention personnel told them that the suspect had concealed some jewelry in her pocket and had tried to leave without paying for it. Cochancela was released after posting $300 bail and is to appear in the Town of Cortlandt Justice Court on Monday, Dec. 21, police said.
