Yonkers' Untermyer Gardens Will Be All Aglow For Holiday Season YONKERS, N.Y. – The Untermyer Gardens in Yonkers are going to grow more sparkly for the holidays. A Grand Holiday Illumination ceremony is set at the walled gardens at 6 p.m. Friday. The garden’s architecture and plantings will be dramatically lighted in a 10-point countdown led by Mayor Mike Spano and former Mayor Angelo Martinelli. The park is at 945 N. Broadway. Simon, who has worked in the fine arts field for 30 years, is a graduate of the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. While studying there, she spent a year in Italy learning printmaking. She moved to New York City in 1981, where she wore many hats in the art world. Now a resident of Bedford, Simon has been involved with the Katonah Museum of Art. Danbury Surgeon Performs Rare Meniscus Transplants On Outpatient Basis DANBURY, Conn. -- Rare meniscus transplant surgery is now being performed locally as an outpatient procedure by a Danbury orthopedist and specialist in sports-related injuries. Dr. Ross Henshaw, a knee and shoulder orthopedic surgeon, recently treated a 16-year-old male patient who, he said, had no meniscus tissue and was facing significant arthritis by his early 20s. Henshaw, of The Sports Medicine Center at Danbury Orthopedics, said that, in the past, patients needing this type of surgery had to travel outside the region. Mercy College To Cut The Ribbon At New Residence Hall DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. -- The ribbon will be cut at Mercy College’s new residence hall in Dobbs Ferry at ceremonies at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 18, school officials said. The college broke ground on the project in September, 2014. The hall is scheduled to be open for students next month. The student commons includes a Starbucks Café and convenience store, Student Life offices, a large community meeting space, and a lounge.
