She spent 17 years at Florida Today in Melbourne, Florida as a general assignment reporter, crime reporter, entertainment reporter and restaurant critic. She worked four years at Hometown News as a general assignment reporter, then another two years at Spacecoast Daily in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Fatal Crash: Man In Custody After Hitting Woman In Stratford, Police Say A Fairfield County man has been charged in connection with a fatal crash. The collision, which took place on the town line of Stratford and Bridgeport on Thursday, Aug. 10, killed a 25-year-old Stratford woman who was walking along the roadway. According to Capt. Frank Eannotti of the Stratford Police, officers responded to a report that a woman had been struck and killed by a vehicle that was driving west on Lordship Boulevard. Armed CT Facebook Marketplace Robber Nabbed In Condo Basement, Police Say A Connecticut man who allegedly robbed two people selling items posted on Facebook Marketplace was nabbed in the basement of a condominium just a short distance from the crime scene. The incident occurred in Hartford County around 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 8, at the Strawbridge Condominium Complex, on Mill Pond Drive in South Windsor. Man Charged With Rape After Yearlong Investigation In Hudson Valley A Hudson Valley man is behind bars on rape charges following a year-long investigation. Dutchess County resident Kawliga B. Shapiro, age 42, of the town of Wappinger, was charged on Tuesday, Aug. 8. Shapiro is accused of having sexual intercourse with someone who is unable to consent on at least two occasions in 2022, said Capt. John Watterson of the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office. CT Man Threatens Gas Sation Employee With Knife, Police Say A 28-year-old Connecticut man was charged with threatening after pulling a knife on a gas station employee who attempted to stop him from allegedly harassing customers. New Haven County resident Robert Gulyban, of New Haven, was detained on Wednesday, Aug. 9 at Galaxy Fuel at 180 New Haven Ave., in Milford. ID Released For 66-Year-Old Killed In Hudson Valley Crash A Hudson Valley man killed in a single-car crash has been identified. Orange County resident Michael Tornatore, age 66, was killed around 11 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 9 in Newburgh. CT Man Gunned Down On Street, Suspect On Run, Police Say A 46-year-old Connecticut man was found shot multiple times on a street after police received a ShotSpotter notification. The murder took place in Hartford around 9:40 p.m., on Wednesday, Aug. 9, in the area of 308 Barbour St. When Hartford Police officers arrived on the scene they found Terrawne Nickson, of East Hartford suffering from gunshot wounds, said Lt. 66-Year-Old Hudson Valley Man Killed In Single-Vehicle Crash A 66-year-old Hudson Valley man was killed in a single-vehicle crash. The collision took place in Orange County around 11 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 9 on Route 9W north in the Town of Newburgh of the intersection with Old Post Road. Norwalk Carjacker Who Shot Victim In Leg Captured, Police Say A violent carjacker who shot a woman in the leg while stealing her vehicle in Fairfield County has been captured. Deonte Sayles, age 27, of Bridgeport, was arrested on Wednesday, Aug. 9 for the Monday, June 19 incident in Norwalk. Man Nabbed For High-End Thefts In Greenwich, Police Say Police in Fairfield County have charged a Westchester County man in connection with allegedly being part of an organized retail theft ring that ripped off thousands in goods from high-end stores.
