She worked four years at Hometown News as a general assignment reporter, then another two years at Spacecoast Daily in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Snooki Closing Up Shop In Hudson Valley Fans of Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi's Hudson Valley shop will be bummed to learn she's closing the store. The Snooki Shop opened in Dutchess County about three years ago in Beacon on Main Street. The "Jersey Shore" star, who has family in the area, would often stop by to help bolster sales and hold special events. River Tragedy: CT Woman Dies When Canoe Overturns A state park-sponsored canoe trip turned into tragedy when a Connecticut woman drowned when her craft overturned. The incident took place in Middlesex County on Saturday, Aug. 12 around 11:15 a.m., in the Hammonasset River in Clinton. Closure For Construction Scheduled On Busy Roadway In Darien A busy roadway will be closed to through traffic in Fairfield County during construction. The closure on Old Kings Highway in Darien on the bridge over Stony Brook River will run from Tuesday, Aug. 15, through Sunday, Aug. 27. All residences will remain accessible throughout the construction period, the Darien Department of Public Works said. Emergency services will be able to reach all residences in the area. Drug Dealer From Stamford Busted In Norwalk Selling Cocaine Laced With Fentanyl, Police Say A Fairfield County man was busted allegedly selling cocaine laced with fentanyl to undercover agents over several months. Joshua Powell, age 30, of Stamford, was charged by Norwalk Police on Thursday, Aug. 10. Hudson Valley Man Convicted Of Box Cutter Slashing A Hudson Valley man was convicted of slashing a man he did not know with a box cutter as he walked with his wife on an area sidewalk. Rockland County resident Darius Williams, age 34, of Spring Valley, was found guilty on Monday, Aug. 7 following a four-day jury trial, said Rockland County District Attorney Tom Walsh. Hudson Valley Woman Killed In Wrong-Way Driver Crash Identified A Hudson Valley woman killed when an SUV crossed the roadway into oncoming traffic has been identified by police. Dutchess County resident Li Hongling, age 50, of Poughkeepsie, was killed Sunday, Aug. 6, on Route 9W in Ulster County in the town of Highland.
