Wilton Parents Offered Safe Place To Talk About Children's Issues WILTON, CONN. -- A support group will hold meetings at a Wilton cultural center for local parents worried about their children's behavioral, emotional, and mental health issues. The National Alliance on Mental Illness Child and Adolescent Network, a support group for parents, will be holding free meetings at the G&B Cultural Center at 49 New Street in Wilton on Monday, Nov. 30, and on Monday, Dec. 21. Sparks Fly Over Weston Selectman's Resignation WESTON, Conn. – The agenda of the first meeting for Weston’s newly elected First Selectman Nina Daniel was fairly ordinary, but the atmosphere was anything but, according to a report in The Weston Forum. Daniel was elected to the board on Nov. 3, beating out then-First Selectman Gayle Weinstein. However, Weinstein still received enough votes to win a seat on the board as a selectman. Ridgefield's Keeler Tavern Museum Decked Out For The Holidays RIDGEFIELD, CONN. -- The Keeler Tavern Museum, an historical institution in Ridgefield, is all decked out for the holidays and ready for visitors. The museum’s front porch has been set up as a quaint Colonial winter’s scene advertising T. Keeler’s Inn. There’s a sign listing lodging and fine fares, a painted teapot featuring a picture of the establishment, and a small table set with pewterware, among other fun details. South Salem Schoolchildren Celebrate Thanksgiving At Annual Corn Fest SOUTH SALEM, N.Y. -- First-graders celebrated Thanksgiving friendships on Tuesday, at South Salem’s Meadow Pond Elementary School. Wearing handmade outfits, the children took part in the school’s annual Corn Festival, entertaining their parents and teachers with songs and enjoying seasonal snacks. Mount Vernon Teens Help Volunteers Clean Up Bronx Wildlife Sanctuary MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- Volunteers battled the environment, weather, and tides recently to help clean up the Thomas Pell Wildlife Sanctuary in the Bronx. The sanctuary, a swampy area devoid of trails in Pelham Bay Park, is only accessible from the east bank of the Hutchinson River, so the hardy volunteers had to paddle themselves and their equipment over in canoes and other boats. They also had to wait until late September when the nesting cycle of creatures there ends to tackle the project. Iona Grad Gives Alma Mater $15 Million To Rebuild Business School NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – New Rochelle’s Iona College has received $15 million from one of its own to rebuild its business school, school officials announced recently. Stamford Man Charged With Sexual Assault Taped The Incident, Police Say STAMFORD, Conn. – A Stamford man was charged with second-degree sexual assault after the victim turned over video evidence to authorities of the incident, police said. Emil Mrkulic, 25, who was already in state custody on an unrelated charge, was arrested Wednesday, Nov. 25, at a state correctional facility and processed at the Stamford courthouse, police said. A 20-year-old man went to police headquarters on Oct. 7 to report that Mrkulic had performed sexual acts on him while he was incapacitated and could not consent, police said.
