Greenwich's Congregation Shir Ami Event To Mix Tradition, Pop Culture
GREENWICH, Conn. -- Congregation Shir Ami in Greenwich is hosting Chanukah Live!, a multimedia Shabbat service and candle lighting, Friday, Dec. 11.
The reform Jewish congregation’s holiday event will take place at 6 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 1 W. Putnam Ave., Greenwich.
Chanukah Live! mixes old-world charm with contemporary pop culture, said its organizers.
“All the prayers and songs appear on a large screen so everyone’s hands are free to join in with clapping and singing and dancing,” said Rabbi Vicki Axe, the congregation’s spiritual leader.

Norwalk's Circle Of Friends Offers Hanukkah Fest For Special-Needs Families
NORWALK, CONN. -- Circle of Friends, a nonprofit group serving children and others with special needs, will hold a Hanukkah festival from 6:30 p.m. - 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 8, at Beth Israel of Westport/Norwalk.
The synagogue is located at 40 King St., Norwalk, Conn.
The fest will feature the Elijah Band, Hanukkah crafts, doughnut making and decorating, traditional latkes, and a Wheel of Mazel (fortune) Game Show.
A grand menorah lighting is planned for 4 p.m.

Danbury Prep School Schedules Winter Open House
DANBURY, CONN. -- The Wooster School, an independent, college preparatory school in Danbury, is holding its winter open house on Wednesday, Dec. 9.
Doors open at 6 p.m.
Wooster, which bills itself as an “innovative and creative learning community,” serves pre-K through 12th-grade students from Fairfield and Westchester counties.

Environmental Group To Perform at Greenwich Hanukkah Celebration
GREENWICH, CONN. -- Greenwich families are invited to celebrate Hanukkah with a special performance by the environmental arts group, Bash the Trash, from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13.
The event is being sponsored by JCC of Greenwich and PJ Library. It will take place at the Carmel Academy, 270 Lake Ave., Greenwich.
Along with latkes, the Westchester-based nonprofit will offer a message of “science, sound, and sustainability” as participants build musical instruments using repurposed materials.

Scarsdale's JCC Highlights 2015's Accomplishments, Seeks Support
SCARSDALE, N.Y. -- The Jewish Community Center of Mid-Westchester in Scarsdale, highlighting a year of service, is asking for contributions to help it maintain and create programs, and support its facilities and scholarships.
The JCC recently celebrated its 60th anniversary, said Karen Kolodny, the executive director.
Among the many accomplishments of 2015, she said, was the hiring of Caryn Symons as director of its nursery school in the Early Childhood Center.
