Cuomo's Holiday Card Uses Dutchess Farm To Illustrate State's Scenic Beauty
DOVER PLAINS, N.Y. -- A snow-covered scene set at a Dutchess County farm was used for Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s annual holiday card this year, according to a report in lohud.
The card, mailed to about 15,000 people, shows a road leading to the Sugarhouse at the 800-acre Madava Farms in Dover Plains, the lohud story said.
This isn’t the first time Cuomo has used his holiday greetings to draw attention to New York’s scenic beauty, lohud reported; two years ago, he used a photo of Essex County’s Mount Marcy, the highest point in the state. For the story, click here.
Small Fireworks Can Be Bought In Putnam, Rockland Until Jan. 2
They may not match up to the big boom of New Year’s displays seen around the world at midnight, but small fireworks such as sparklers and smoking devices can still be bought in Putnam and Rockland counties until Saturday, Jan. 2, according to a report in lohud.
According to lohud, the state passed a law two years ago to allow the devices. Thirty-five counties in New York have since approved their sale, it said.

3 More Suspects Arrested in Greenwich beating
GREENWICH, Conn. -- Three more suspects have been arrested in an attack on a 19-year-old Greenwich man, according to the Greenwich Time.
Charged with felony assault are: Andrew Calderon, 19; Nicholas Ortiz, 18; and Aldair Garcia, the Time story said. A fourth suspect, who police have not named because he is 17, was arrested earlier, according to the Time story.
The victim, who was beaten unconscious in late November during a brawl near Holly Hill Lane, is recovering from his injuries, reports the Time.

Novartis Closing In On Sale Of Suffern Drugmaking Plant
RAMAPO, N.Y. -- The list of potential buyers for a pharmaceutical plant in Suffern has been winnowed down to two developers and a deal is close, reports lohud.com.Novartis, which is shaking up its drugmaking division, shuttering sites, and planning layoffs, has had its Rockland campus on the market for two years, lohud reported.
A local real estate broker told the media outlet that both developer candidates have industrial or commercial uses in mind for the 125-acre site on Old Mill Road, says lohud.com.
