Nyack Arts Group Apologizes To Parents After Puppet Show Flap NYACK, N.Y. -- A puppeteer’s recent performance of his fractured fairy tale has some Nyack parents in an uproar, according to a report on lohud.com The controversy centers on the portrayal of a princess in Rick Lyon’s “The Magic Orange,” the lohud report said. The concerns over what some called negative stereotyping spurred ArtsRock, the organizers of the show, to send out an email apology, the lohud article said. Orange Authorities Vow To Track Down Emergency Radio Hackers GOSHEN, N.Y. -- Someone has been hacking into first responder radios in Orange County, and officials are vowing to bring the dangerous practice to a halt, according to a report by twcnews.com. Police Use Naloxone To Save Hyde Park Overdose Victim's Life HYDE PARK, N.Y. -- A Hyde Park man who had overdosed was resuscitated with the use of a drug that reverses the effects of opiates, according to a report in the Poughkeepsie Journal. Police, who are trained in the use of naloxone, came to the aid of the 34-year-old unconscious victim on Monday and brought him around with the lifesaving nasal spray, the Poughkeepsie Journal reported. Pleasantville Parenting Workshop To Offer Mindfulness Tips PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. -- Pleasantville parents are invited to a workshop on mindfulness and compassion this week, school officials said. The workshop is set for 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, in Pleasantville High School’s library media center. It will be run by Jeanette Sandor, a registered nurse, and Jan Fielder. Parents will learn techniques that will help them respond -- instead of merely react -- during stressful times that will help both them and their children. Man Charged With Refusing To Pay Cab Fare In Yorktown YORKTOWN, N.Y. – A Newburgh man was charged with theft of services after a cabdriver called to complain that she had been stiffed on her fare to Yorktown, police said. Theodore Jones Jr., 42, who told police he is homeless, was arrested on Tuesday on Gregory Street, police said. The charge is a misdemeanor, police said. Jones was being held for arraignment Tuesday at police headquarters in Yorktown, police said.

Ossining Woman Charged With DWI In Yorktown YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- A Ossining woman faces DWI charges after a property damage accident in Yorktown on Monday, police said. Police said Roseann DiGiovanni, 55, was arrested on Maple Hill Street about 5 p.m. and charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor; driving while ability impaired by a combination of alcohol and drugs, a misdemeanor; leaving the scene of an accident, a traffic infraction; and failure to keep right, also a traffic infraction. She was ticketed, released and ordered to appear in Yorktown Town Court on Thursday, Jan. 28, police said.

Clarkstown Police Seek Public's Help In Search For Wanted Man CLARKSTOWN, N.Y. -- A Congers man is being sought by authorities on third-degree assault charges, according to Clarkstown police. Jeffrey Hankenhof, 55, is 5 feet 8 inches tall, and has brown hair and blue eyes, police say. Police are advising anyone who spots Hankenhof not to take action themselves, but to alert authorities by calling the Clarkstown Detective Bureau at 845-639-5840 or by calling the TIPS line at 877-639-6233.

BRIDGEPORT, CONN. -- Bridgeport’s Joseph Ganim will join hundreds of other city mayors this week in Washington, D.C. at their national winter conference, according to a report in the ctpost.
