Brewster Man Faces DWI Charge After Hitting Patrol Car
BREWSTER, N.Y. -- A Brewster driver is facing DWI charges after he rear-ended a state trooper’s car, police said.
Elder R. Martinez Giron, 23, was arrested on Friday, Jan. 15, after he collided with the parked police car on Main Street in the village, police said.
The trooper had just pulled over another driver in an unrelated DWI case, police said.
The suspect in that case was under arrest and sitting in the trooper’s car when the crash occurred, police said.
Neither the trooper nor the other suspect was injured, police said.

Yonkers Bat Attack Suspect ID'd
YONKERS, N.Y. -- Police have identified the Yonkers man who, they said, attacked his neighbor with a baseball bat, according to a report by News12.
Karmell Mills, 40, is facing charges of attempted murder in the attack on an unidentified 33-year-old resident of Ravine Avenue, police told News12.
The victim, who was seriously injured, was rescued when passers-by heard his calls for help, according to previous media reports.

Hi Tor Animal Shelter Introduces Oliver, Its Pet Of The Week
POMONA, N.Y. -- Oliver, who was given up by his owners because they were moving, is a little shy but very sweet, say the folks at the Hi Tor Animal Care Center in Pomona.
The 6-year-old buff-colored kitty -- once he warms up -- loves to be petted, the shelter folks say.
A low-energy kind of guy, Oliver, would probably do best in a home with teenagers and adults.
The shelter says its thinks he would be fine with other cats, but added that it is unsure about him living with dogs.

MONSEY, N.Y. -- Funeral services have been set for the Monsey rabbi who helped free a political prisoner and Soviet refusenik, according to a report by lohud.
Ronald Greenwald, 82, died in Florida, the lohud report said.
Services are 6 p.m. tonight (Thursday, Jan. 21) at Yeshiva Ohr Sameach in Monsey, lohud reported.
