Ramapo Authorities Seek Cause Of Storage Building Fire
MONSEY, N.Y. -- A fire that destroyed a storage building near a Monsey supermarket is under investigation, Ramapo police say.
The blaze -- reported around 10:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1 -- also spread to a delivery truck which belonged to the Rockland Kosher Supermarket, police said.
The building, which was located near the Shopper's Haven Mall, had contained a forklift, propane tanks, and other materials, police said.
The supermarket, which is located on Orchard Street in the hamlet, was evacuated as a precaution, but no damage there or injuries were reported, police said.

Glastonbury Man Faces Charges After Trying To Pick Up Sister In Trumbull
TRUMBULL, Conn. – The half-brother of a Trumbull girl is facing charges after police said he tried to lure her away from her father’s house, according to a report in the Trumbull Times.
Reed Thaner, 20, of Glastonbury, is accused to going to pick up his 12-year-old half-sister in violation of a court order, police told the Trumbull Times.
Thaner’s biological mother and his former stepdad, the girl’s father, are battling over custody of the girl, Trumbull Times reported.
Thaner has been charged with custodial interference and risk of injury to a minor, the Trumbull Times reported.

Two Yonkers Dogs To Strut Stuff At Westminster Show
YONKERS, N.Y. – Two of Yonkers’ top pooches will be competing in this year’s Westminster dog show in New York City, according to a report in lohud.
Owner Loretta Iazzetti and her rat terrier and Portuguese pedengo pequeno are already big winners in the world of canine competition, the lohud story said.
Several thousand dogs will strut their stuff in the hound, toy, non-sporting, and herding groups on Monday, Feb. 15, and in the sporting, working, and terrier groups on Tuesday, Feb. 16, according to the Westminster Kennel Club’s website.

CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. -- President Bill Clinton was once asked by his daughter’s future father-in-law to help spare him from prison, according to a report in politico.com.
Edward Maurice "Ed" Mezvinsky, the father of Marc Mezvinsky, who Chelsea Clinton married in 2010, and his wife, had written to the president asking for a pardon while he was being investigated for stealing millions from investors and friends, the politico.com story said.
