Pit Bull Charges Owner's Neighbor In Hillcrest, Ramapo Police Say
RAMAPO, N.Y. -- The owner of a pit bull is in trouble after the dog charged a neighbor, Ramapo police said.
Police said they were called to the hamlet of Hillcrest on Wednesday evening after a resident complained of being charged by the dog that belonged to his neighbor.
The unnamed man, who avoided the dog by jumping into his car, was not injured, police said.
He told police that the pit bull was acting in an aggressive manner, they said.

Landlord Evicts Ekizian's From Nanuet Store
NANUET, N.Y. -- A business that has sold flooring, rugs, and carpeting for decades in Nanuet has been kicked to the curb -- allegedly for not paying its rent, according to a report by lohud.
Ekizian’s on South Middletown Road was started in the early 1950s by Sam Ekizian but was owned by Orange County resident Frederick Landrigan at the time of its demise, the lohud story said.
After sheriff’s deputies came to evict the business Wednesday, Feb. 17, rolls of carpeting, padding, and other things from the store were piled up outside, lohud reported.

'Laughter Saves Lives' Event To Raise Funds For Rockland Fire Chiefs Group
ORANGETOWN, N.Y. -- Rockland’s bravest give to their communities every day by saving lives; now the folks who they help can return the favor – and enjoy a few yuks and chuckles while they’re doing it.
The Rockland County Fire Chief’s Association will be hosting “Laughter Saves Live,” a comedy fundraiser, on Friday, Feb. 26.

The Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist, editor, and professor turns 85 today, Thursday, Feb. 18.
Morrison, who was born Chloe Ardelia Wofford in Lorain, Ohio, is known for writing novels with epic themes -- among the best known are: “The Bluest Eye,” “Sula,” “Song of Solomon,” and “Beloved.”
