White Plains Woman Charged With Stealing $30K In Jewelry In Pound Ridge
POUND RIDGE, N.Y. -- A White Plains woman has been accused by police of stealing thousands of dollars worth of jewelry from several Pound Ridge homes, according to a report on lohud.com
Police said that Hilda Velezquez, 32, was arrested Thursday, Feb. 18, charged with grand larceny, and sent to the Westchester County Jail, lohud.com reported.
The victims were robbed of about $30,000 in jewelry, police said, according to the lohud.com article.

Mel Brooks' 'Spaceballs' To Screen At Upac In Kingston
KINGSTON, N.Y. -- Mel Brooks’ wacky sci-fi spoof “Spaceballs,” will be screened at the Ulster Performing Arts Center in Kingston on Friday, Feb. 19.
The 1981 film takes off on the original “Star Wars” trilogy as well as “Star Trek,” “Alien,” and “Planet of the Apes.”
It was directed by, and is starred in, by Brooks and features Bill Pullman, John Candy, Rick Moranis, Dick Van Patten, and the voice of the late comedian Joan Rivers.
The show starts at 7:30 p.m. at the center, located at 601 Broadway in Kingston.

Haverstraw Man Faces Weapons, Drug Charges In Orangetown
ORANGETOWN, N.Y. – A Haverstraw man faces weapons and drug charges after he was stopped in Nyack recently, Orangetown police said.
Damarr Reid, 19, was pulled over on Route 9W on Wednesday, Feb. 17, and after being found in possession of a switchblade knife and marijuana, was arrested, police said.
The weapons charge is a misdemeanor and the pot charge, a violation, police said.
Reid, who was wanted on an unrelated warrant, was turned over the Haverstraw police, authorities said.
He is to appear in court on March 22.

Stamford Attorney Charged With Larceny, Forgery
STAMFORD, CONN. -- A Stamford attorney faces charges of larceny and forgery after police said he stole thousands of dollars from a family as executor of their mother’s estate, according to a report in the Stamford Advocate.
L. Morris Glucksman -- whose website says he handles wills, trusts, estates, and bankruptcy cases -- was arrested at his Bedford Street offices on Thursday, Feb. 18, the Stamford Advocate story said.
According to police, Glucksman forged signatures and a notary stamp in order to steal money from the estate, and also sold sports memorabilia and secretly kept the proceeds …
Orangeburg Man Hit Girlfriend In Eye With Glass, Police Say
ORANGEBURG, N.Y. -- An Orangeburg man faces charges after he threw a glass in his girlfriend’s face during an argument, Orangetown police said.
Mark Derfuss, 60, was arrested on Tuesday, Feb. 16, and charged with second-degree assault, police said.
According to police, Derfuss and the unidentified female victim were having a verbal fight when he threw the drinking glass and hit her in the eye.
The woman suffered serious injuries that will require surgery, police said.
Derfuss was released and is to appear in court in March, police said.
