Young Washington Township Athlete Seeks Funds For National Junior Olympics WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. -- A young athlete from Washington Township has established a GoFundMe.com account to encourage support for him to compete in the upcoming USA Track and Field Junior Olympics.Connor Payne Munson is soliciting donations to enable him to compete in the pentathlon at the Junior Olympics, which will be held in Sacramento, Calif. Fairfield American Captures District 2 Little League Championship FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Fairfield American Little League secured the District 2 title Saturday with a 6-3 win over Trumbull National, sending the All-Stars to the next stage in its quest to reach the Little League World Series. Fairfield American advances to the Section 1 tournament, where it will play on Wednesday at Unity Park in Trumbull. Fairfield will play District 4 champion Milford National at 5:45 p.m. Fairfield American went 7-0 in the District Tournament. Merritt Parkway Drivers Will See Ramp Closures In Stamford, New Canaan FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Drivers will see closures on Merritt Parkway exits and entrances between New Canaan and Stamford effective immediately during night driving hours. The Connecticut Department of Transportation said the closures will be necessary as part of ongoing safety improvements. The closers will be from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Southbound on/off-ramps from, Exit 31 to 35 between New Canaan and Stamford will be closed. Detours will be posted.
