CT Man To Spend Years In Prison For Killing Recent High School Graduate A Connecticut man will spend years behind bars for shooting a 17-year-old boy to death while he talked to his girlfriend. Kiyon Matheney, age 26, of New Haven, was sentenced on Tuesday, Dec.12, to 33 years in prison for the fatal shooting of John Tubac-Saquil of New Haven in July 2022. Matheney was found guilty by a jury of manslaughter with a firearm and carrying a firearm without a permit, said John Doyle Jr., State’s Attorney for the Judicial District of New Haven. Failure To Maintain Lane Leads To DUI Charge For Danbury Man In Wilton: Police A Fairfield County man was nabbed for allegedly driving under the influence after he was seen not maintaining his lane of travel. Edward Turner, age 57, of Danbury, was stopped by Wilton Police around 2:15 a.m., Friday, Dec. 8 in his gray 2014 Chevrolet Traverse. According to Lt. Anna Tornello of the Wilton Police, Turner was stopped after police spotted him failing to maintain his lane of travel on Danbury Road. Hudson Valley Man Charged With Stealing Gas After Fleeing Cops, Crashing A man was charged with allegedly stealing gas and then fleeing from police and crashing his vehicle in the region. The incident took place in Ulster County around 8:40 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 9 in the town of Hurly. According to Sgt. Collin Reynolds of the Ulster County Sheriff's Office, William Williams, age 65, of Highland, was arrested after deputies attempted to stop him and he sped away at a high rate of speed before crashing into a wooded area in the town of Rosendale. Sex Offender From Region Nabbed For Failing To Register, Police Say A sex offender from the region is behind bars after allegedly failing to register under state law. Sullivan County resident Pedro Correa, age 57, of the village of Liberty was charged on Monday, Dec. 11, during a routine check of sex offenders in the area. Village of Liberty Police Chief Steven D'Agata said under the law all individuals designated as sex offenders as a result of a criminal conviction for a sex offense are required to register their physical address and certain internet accounts and identifiers. Norwalk Sex Offender Nabbed For Not Registering 11 Times, Police Say A Fairfield County sex offender has been charged with allegedly failing to register 11 times over a 2-and-a-half-year period. Maurice Thomas-Riley, age 28, of Norwalk, was charged on Thursday, Dec. 14 with 11 counts of violating the notification, said Norwalk Police Sgt. Ryan Evarts. The investigation stemmed from the Connecticut State Police Sex Offender Registry Unit notifying the Norwalk Police of the violations, Evarts said. Thomas-Riley is being held on a $75,000 bond.

37-Year-Old From Stratford Killed In Bridgeport Crash A 37-year-old Fairfield County man was killed during a two-vehicle crash. The collision occurred in Bridgeport on Thursday, Dec. 14 at Housatonic Avenue and Wells Street. Scott Appleby, director of Bridgeport Emergency Management, said Bridgeport officers responded to the area and found a man who driving an Italica motor scooter RX 150 on the ground. Suspect On Run After Armed Robbery Of Hudson Valley Gas Station, Police Say Police in the Hudson Valley are searching for an armed man who allegedly robbed a gas station at gunpoint and made off with cash. The incident took place in Dutchess County around 10 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 14 at the Valero Gas Station on Route 55 in LaGrange. Capt.
