New Traffic Pattern, Closures Announced On Long Island Expressway Both directions of the Long Island Expressway will be off-limits for construction, and the new traffic pattern is expected to last months, transportation officials said. Seen Him? Alert Issued For Teen Missing Nearly A Week, Last Seen On Long Island Police are asking for the community’s assistance in locating a missing teenager who was last seen on Long Island. Jamell Harris, age 14, was last seen on Friday, Sept. 1 at approximately 9 p.m. in Hempstead, according to Nassau County Police.
