Man Assaults Pair, Holds 1 Hostage On Long Island: Police A Long Island man has been arrested after police say he assaulted a pair of people and held one of them hostage. It happened on Saturday, Nov. 25 in Hicksville, according to Nassau County Police. Just before 10:30 a.m., police responded to a home on Ohio Street, where 40-year-old John Howell of Hicksville was holding a woman, age 56, hostage inside. Earlier in the morning, Howell had allegedly physically assaulted the woman and a 44-year-old man, even going as far as threatening them with a knife. $10K Stolen From Local Long Island Restaurant: Police Police are on the search for a man who they say broke into a Long Island restaurant, stole thousands of dollars in cash, and ran. It happened on Tuesday, Nov. 21 in Carle Place. According to Nassau County Police, an unknown man broke into Plori Restaurant, located at 307 Old Country Road, by breaking down the back door at approximately 4:15 a.m. Once the thief was inside, he stole nearly $10,000 in cash from multiple registers before fleeing on foot. NY Doctor Forced Invasive, Unnecessary Tests On Patients, Attorney General Claims A New York doctor has been indicted for his alleged involvement in a kickback scheme that involved him defrauding Medicaid and giving patients unnecessary tests, officials announced. New York Attorney General Letitia James announced on Wednesday, Nov. 22 the indictment of Long Island resident Payam Toobian, M.D., alongside his company, America’s Imaging Center, Inc., for over 10 years of alleged Medicaid fraud. Accused Man, Woman Drug-Dealing Duo Nabbed In CT Bust A bust resulted in the seizure of over 140 grams of cocaine, heroin, and more, as well as the arrest of two alleged drug dealers from Connecticut, police said. It happened on Saturday, Nov. 18 in Valley Stream, according to Nassau County Police. Man Posing As DOT Worker Nabbed On CT Roadway: Police A Massachusetts man was arrested in Connecticut after officers said he posed as a government worker in an attempt to steal. It happened on Monday, Nov. 20 in the Hartford County town of Manchester, according to Connecticut State Police.
