Child Dead, Five Injured Following Turnpike Crash In West Hempstead A 6-year-old girl has died and five others were injured when an SUV crashed into a car parked on the Hempstead Turnpike, officials announced. It happened on Monday, Aug. 7 in West Hempstead, according to Nassau County Police. At approximately 2:20 a.m., the driver of a 2005 Nissan SUV was purportedly speeding down the turnpike, heading east. Attempted Murder: Long Island Man Nabbed For Stabbing Woman, Police Say A Long Island man has been arrested after he allegedly stabbed a woman multiple times, leaving her in critical condition, according to police. The incident happened in Garden City Park just before 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 1, Nassau County Police reported. Andy Yeung, age 58, was at his residence on Schumacker Drive when he got involved in a dispute with a 57-year-old woman, police said. Yeung allegedly stabbed the woman multiple times. $95K Law Firm Swindle: Man Nabbed For Long Island Fraud A Massachusetts man turned himself in to police over a year after attempting to scam a Long Island law firm out of $95,000, police said.
