Fairfield Fire: Blaze Engulfs Commercial Building Firefighters battled an overnight fire that broke out at a Fairfield building overnight. The blaze erupted just after 2:40 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 21 at Ray Place, local police said. By the time firefighters were on scene, the fire had fully engulfed the building. Firefighters from Montclair, Pine Brook, North Caldwell, Caldwell, West Caldwell, Nutley, Cedar Grove, Lincoln Park, Wayne, and Roseland responded or provided mutual aid. The cause has not been identified.

Body Found In Newark Park A body was found in a Newark park amid frigid temperatures this weekend, officials said. The discovery was made around noon Saturday, Jan. 20 in Weequahic Park in Newark, a spokesperson for the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said. No further information was released. The investigation remains active. Located in the city's South Ward, Weequahic Park spans more than 311 acres and features New Jersey's first golf course, according to the county parks' website.

Driver, 26, Killed In Fiery East Rutherford Turnpike Toll Plaza Crash A 26-year-old driver was killed in a crash on the New Jersey Turnpike overnight, authorities said. The Summit driver was heading west in a Toyota on the highway's Interchange 16W exit when he struck the toll plaza concrete abutment and overturned around 3:45 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 21 in East Rutherford, New Jersey State Police Sgt. Charles Marchan said. It happened near milepost 112.7, where the vehicle erupted in flames, Marchan said. The driver died as a result of the crash, which remains under investigation.
