Man Scammed $80K From Hudson Valley Woman He Met On Dating App, DA Says A Hudson Valley man has been charged with grand larceny for allegedly bilking at least $80,000 from a woman he met on the dating app Bumble. Michael Benedetto, age 21, who is currently without a residence, was charged on Wednesday, July 19 in the town of New Windsor Justice Court with grand larceny for having defrauded a woman he had been dating, said Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler. Fatal Crash: 45-Year-Old Struck By SUV In Norwalk A 45-year-old man died as a result of injuries suffered when he was struck by a SUV in Fairfield County. Joseph Velez, of Norwalk, was riding a moped when the incident happened around 10 p.m., Friday, July 21 at Maple Street and Van Buren Avenue, authorities say. Sgt. Sofia Gulino of the Norwalk Police said Velez was transported to Norwalk Hospital with significant injuries and was later pronounced dead. Bus Driver Charged After Hudson Valley Boy, 9, Hit By Truck, Police Say A Hudson Valley school bus driver has been charged with reckless endangerment after an investigation into a 9-year-old boy being hit by a truck after getting off the bus. Video: 14-Year-Old CT Girl Killed In Crash Of Stolen Vehicle, Police Say A 14-year-old Connecticut girl was killed during a two-car crash that also injured five people, two critically. The crash took place in New Haven County around 2:20 a.m., Friday, July 21, at the intersection of East Main Street and Baldwin Street in Waterbury. New Update: Woman Dies After Jumping At Mall In Hudson Valley, Police Say This story has been updated. A woman died after intentionally jumping from the fourth floor of a Hudson Valley mall. The incident took place in Rockland County around 9:45 a.m., Thursday, July 20, at the Palisades Center Mall in West Nyack. CT Man Who Sold $150K In Stolen Catalytic Converters Sentenced To Federal Prison A Connecticut man has been sentenced to federal prison for taking part in a stolen catalytic converter trafficking ring in which he made more than $150,000.
