'Lyin' Latimer,' Tweets Astorino, Taking Page From Trump's Playbook With one week to go until Election Day, County Executive Rob Astorino (R-Mount Pleasant) is starting to channel President Donald Trump...at least on Twitter. Mohegan Lake Bicyclist Possesses Xanax On Route 6, Police Say A 33-year-old Mohegan Lake man was arrested and charged with possession of Xanax after police received a call of an erratic bicyclist early Sunday morning on Route 6. Todd Rini was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 7th degree, a Class A misdemeanor after police investigated a report of a bicyclist swerving in and out of the roadway, police said. After they discovered the Xanax, Rini was arrested and transported back to headquarters. Rini was released on his own recognizance and is due back in court on Nov. 30.

DWI Route 202 Driver Strikes Fire Hydrant, Yorktown Police Say A 21-year-old Yorktown man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after striking a fire hydrant on Crompond Road and Old Yorktown Road Saturday. David Valez was charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, driving while intoxicated with a BAC of .08 percent or more, a misdemeanor and leaving the scene of a property damage auto accident, a violation. At 2:45 a.m., a Yorktown police officer observed a black Acura strike a fire hydrant before fleeing the scene, police said. Pair Charged After 3-Year-Old Found Alone On Sidewalk, Yorktown Police Say Two Northern Westchester residents were arrested and charged Tuesday morning after Yorktown Police say they left a 3-year-old home alone while they went to the train station. Ronald Kohler, 46, and Doloresse Lubin, 45, of Shrub Oak were charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a Class A misdemeanor. At 6:45 a.m. Tuesday morning, police received a call about a small child standing on the sidewalk alone and barefoot on East Main Street. The girl told officers she lived on Stonegate Road. Croton Parents Learn About Vaping CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. -- As a smoke shop is set to open in Croton, parents learned vaping 101 at an informational session Monday night. The meeting was held at Pierre Van Cortlandt Middle School and was sponsored by the school and the Croton Community Coalition. The event allowed parents to learn vaping lingo and how to recognize devices and products. "Smoke, Tobacco, and Cigars," will open in a few weeks on Maple Avenue near the middle school. The store will have tinted windows.

Ossining Pets Celebrate 'Howloween' OSSINING, N.Y. -- In Ossining, everyone gets in the Halloween spirit- even if you have four legs.The Greater Ossining Chamber of Commerce and Ossining Upton Initiative held the third annual Howloween Pet Parade on Saturday in the village. The parade was attended by 200 people and their pets in costume. The annual costume contest saw gift certificates awarded to the human winners, while pets got a pet treat basket. Mason won Best Dog Costume for being dressed like a rock star, while other dogs went as lions, pumpkins and Disney characters.
