Ex-Greenwich Man Gets 17 Months In Federal Prison On Pot Charges GEORGETOWN, Conn. – Convicted felon Robert E. Bridges, a former resident of Greenwich and Redding, was sentenced to 17 months in prison for marijuana trafficking, according to Deirdre M. Daly, U.S. attorney for Connecticut. Bridges was sentenced Wednesday by U.S. District Judge Victor A. Bolden in Bridgeport. The prison term is to be followed by three years of supervised release. According to court documents, Bridges had been convicted in 2008 in a scheme that defrauded investors of more than $5 million and sentenced to 70 months in prison. He was born in Stamford on Oct. 24, 1941, to James O. and Elizabeth Whitlow Winn. He earned his criminal justice degree from Iona College and served with the Darien police department, where he was remembered for his outstanding service, until his retirement. According to a report on CtPost.com, 68 numbers had been handed out by 1 p.m., and funds eventually ran out. Those who came later were told they would have to wait for another program.
