Stamford Students, Local Agency Bring Holiday Cheer To Needy Families
STAMFORD, Conn. – The holidays will be a little brighter for three Stamford families thanks to the efforts of a nonprofit agency that aids immigrants -- and local students and their mentors.
A representative of the agency, Neighbors Link Stamford, will collect donations for the families on Tuesday, Dec. 8, at the Newfield Elementary School.

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. -- How does buying locally help you? The Bronxville Chamber of Commerce will help you count the ways.
Quoting Mayor Mary Marvin as saying that for every $100 spent in a locally owned, independent store, $68 comes back to the community, the Chamber recently released a list of reasons to shop local.
According to the Chamber, the same amount spent at a mall or chain store returns $48 "home," and, if spent on the Internet, nothing comes back to the towns and villages.

Ridgefield Begins Dye Water Testing Of Sewer Lines
RIDGEFIELD, CONN. -- Ridgefield is testing its sewer system for signs of contamination by stormwater or groundwater, according to First Selectman Rudy Marconi.Marconi said the town will use dye to trace possible sources for a period of four to six weeks.
The community’s plant processes, on average, 700,000 to 800,000 gallons of sewage a day, Marconi said.
However, when it rains that number can spike to 4 million gallons, which, by state law, also must be treated.
