Ramapo Police Ramp Up Storm Response
RAMAPO, N.Y. -- A windy and rainy storm that blew through the area this week had Ramapo police hopping as they responded to multiple reports of trees and wires down.
Among the locations police said they had to secure were Spook Rock Road, White Birch Drive, Mayer Drive, Laurel Road, Route 17, Dawn Lane, Smith Hill Road, White Pine, College Road and South Mountain Road.
Extra officers remained on patrol throughout the storm to make sure that police resources were not diminished during that time, they said.

Three Charged With Stealing 15 Shotguns, Rifles
ULSTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Three suspects in the theft of rifles and shotguns from a home in Ruby were arrested Wednesday, according to Kingston police.
Charged with second-degree burglary were, police said, James McKnight, 26, of Saugerties; Cody J. Valenti, 21, of Saugerties; and Cory Necketopoulos, 22, of New Paltz.
McKnight and Necketopoulos were arraigned in Ulster Town Court and released on their own recognizance, police said. They are to appear in court on Tuesday.
Valenti was sent to Ulster County Jail on $5,000 cash, or $10,000 bail bond, police said.

EASTON, Conn. – An Easton man, who authorities said preyed on struggling homeowners, has been charged with multiple offenses, including fraud and identity theft, according to U.S. attorney for the District of Connecticut.
Timothy W. Burke, 64, also known as Kerry Saunders, Pat Riley and other aliases, was indicted Wednesday in a long-running scheme to defraud individuals, mortgage lenders, and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, said Deirdre Daly.

Caretaker Charged In Theft Of Weston Man's Identity
WESTON, CONN. -- A Danbury caretaker, accused of stealing thousands of dollars from an elderly client, has been charged with identify theft, among other things, according to a report on thewestonforum.com.
Police said that Derrick Perkins, 47, who was caring for an 84-year-old Weston man, made more than $50,000 worth of fraudulent charges on the victim’s bank account, thewestonforum.com reported.
Perkins, who is supposed to appear in Norwalk Superior Court in March month, faces up to five years behind bars if convicted, thewestonforum.com story said.
