Hyde Park Man Charged With Shoplifting HYDE PARK, N.Y. -- A Hyde Park man has been charged with shoplifting at the Walmart Superstore in the Town of Ulster, police said. Joshua S. Richter, 32, was arrested at the store on Thursday, Feb. 25, police said. Store security said that Richter left the Ulster County store without paying for $51.40 worth of merchandise, police said. The arresting officer reported finding suboxone, a medication used to treat opiate addiction. Because Richter didn’t have a prescription for the medication, he was charged with seventh-degree possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, police said.…

Suicidal Man, 29, Talked Down From Newburgh-Beacon Bridge NEWBURGH, N.Y. -- A suicidal man was talked down from the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge Monday evening, Feb. 29, local police said. The distraught 29-year-old, who was threatening to jump, had walked to the center of the bridge and was clinging to a railing on its south side, police said. Two eastbound lanes of the bridge had to be shut down during the incident, police said. Man Found Shot At Stamford Hotel, Police Say STAMFORD, Conn. – Police are investigating a shooting at the Marriott Hotel on Tresser Boulevard in Stamford, according to a report in the Stamford Advocate. An unidentified man was found wounded on the third floor of the hotel’s parking garage, the Stamford Advocate reported. Ramapo Police Investigating Domestic Dispute Arrest Man On Warrant RAMAPO, N.Y. -- Ramapo police investigating a report of a domestic dispute Monday wound up arresting a man wanted in Orangetown. Officers responding to a home in Chestnut Ridge said they spotted its 29-year-old resident walking along the road and stopped him. After determining that no crime had been committed during the dispute, and that the man had an active warrant on him, they turned him over to Orangetown authorities.
