Police Seek Witnesses To Car-Pedestrian Accident In Nanuet CLARKSTOWN, N.Y. -- Clarkstown police are asking for the public’s help as they investigate an accident in Nanuet that left a pedestrian with serious head injuries. Police said that a 51-year-old man from Bardonia was struck by a car as it left the Stop and Shop parking lot off South Middletown Road around 5:10 p.m., Friday, March 4. The driver, a 25-year-old man from Congers, did not leave the scene and has not, as of Monday, been charged with anything, police said. IHOPs Serving Free Pancakes With A Purpose IHOP restaurants will be celebrating National Pancake Day on Tuesday, March 8, by offering patrons a free short stack of the breakfast staple. In return, guests will be asked to consider leaving a donation for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, or other designated local charities, the chain said. So far, IHOP has raised nearly $20 million to support charities in its communities. This year, its goal is to raise $3.5 million. Poughkeepsie Makes Acting Chief Spero Permanent Top Cop POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Acting Police Chief Ronald J. Spero Jr. is now the town’s permanent top officer, according to a report by The Poughkeepsie Journal. Former Chief Thomas Mauro stepped down in 2015 and Spero has been interim chief ever since, The Poughkeepsie Journal reported. The New York Democrat on Monday urged major landline and mobile carriers to make robocall-blocking services available to all consumers. Tappan Zee Bridge Users Urged To Sign Up For E-zpass ORANGETOWN, N.Y. – The crews working on the new Tappan Zee Bridge are getting set to install the final crossbeam on its towers. Meanwhile, the authority announced Monday that since all-electronic toll collection will begin in the spring, it is encouraging drivers to sign up now for E-ZPass. State DOT Hosts Meeting On Saw Mill Bridge Reconstruction PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. -- The state Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting on March 7 on two bridge reconstruction projects planned for April in Pleasantville. The DOT plans to work on two spans where the Saw Mill River Parkway crosses the Saw Mill River.
