Ridgefield Police Take A Fun Turn On Pokémon Go Safety In Prospector Video RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- Ridgefield police want Pokémon Go players to search safely for the creatures, and produced a creative video with help from The Prospector to show players how to do just that. Captain Jeff Kreitz and officer Christopher DiFalco appear in the video with players. Zumba Event In Stamford Plans To Share Proceeds With Several Charities STAMFORD, Conn. -- Zumba instructors from Connecticut and New York will host a “master charity event” on Sunday, July 31, at The Palms Nightclub in Stamford. Second Phase Completed For Route 8 Bridge Replacement In Bridgeport BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- The second stage of a bridge replacement project on Route 8/25 was finished Wednesday, three days ahead of schedule. James Redeker, Commissioner of the Department of Transportation, attended a ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday, officially reopening Route 8/25 in Bridgeport. Northbound and southbound traffic was reopened at full capacity, with four lanes of traffic in each direction. Fisheries Organization Reminds Norwalk Boaters To Watch For Whales FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- A federal fisheries organization reminded boaters to watch for whales amid reports of several sightings in the far western stretch of Long Island Sound. Cancer Fundraiser At North Salem Swim Club Nets $14K NORTH SALEM, N.Y. -- Swimmers splashed down Sunday at Lakeside Field Club in North Salem to raise money for cancer research and support services.The Swim Across America event featured 53 swimmers, who raised more than $13,500. The Team Lakeside Swim and Dive Club raised more than $5,000. Top individual fundraisers were Cassie Pelosi in the half-mile swim and Sophia Bucaj in the mile swim. Bucaj raised $1,440, while Scott Reilley raised $1,325. Pelosi raised $1,155 according to the SAA website. A barbecue followed the afternoon swim.

Rutherford Native Announces Retirement From NFL RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Rutherford native and former Don Bosco Prep standout Corey Wootton announced his retirement from the National Football League, ending a six-year career in which he played for three teams. Wootton, who now lives in Chicago, cited a desire to spend more time with his family. He and his wife, Felicia, have a one-year-old daughter.
