Olympian Addresses Grads at F.D. Roosevelt High School In Hyde Park HYDE PARK, N.Y. -- Franklin D. Roosevelt High School said goodbye to its graduating class in a ceremony last Friday at the Hyde Park School's football stadium. The class had 302 graduates. Dalton Slegal earned the honor as the class valedictorian, and Nicolas Fantini was the salutatorian.The grads were decked out in green robes for boys and yellow for girls. Olympian Patrick Manning, a 1985 Roosevelt grad, delivered the commencement speech. Manning won a silver medal in the 1992 Olympic Games competing in rowing. Bethel Woman's Handmade Scarf Helps Healing For Paris Terror Victims BETHEL, Conn. — Bethel resident Karen Mello crocheted a scarf in colors of the French flag shortly after the terrorist attacks at a Paris nightclub, hoping it might comfort a survivor from the frightening November night. McMahon High Valedictorian Is Undocumented — And Heading To Harvard NORWALK, Conn. -- After watching her computer screen for minutes that seemed like an eternity, Brien McMahon High School valedictorian Laura Veira finally got the word from Harvard University that she had been waiting for. Veira, an undocumented Norwalk resident from Colombia, learned in December that she had been accepted at Harvard.
