New Fairfield, State Squabble Over Safety At Squantz Pond NEW FAIRFIELD — New Fairfield officials and representatives from the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection are squabbling over much-needed safety measure at Squantz Pond.The parties have exchanged five letters over the past few weeks, according to a story on NewsTimes.com. Safety concerns include a lack of bilingual staff and lifeguards and the safety of pedestrians who walk into the park. Lawyer Pushes To Overturn Guilty Verdict For Former Dutchess Legislator DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- A former Dutchess County legislator found guilty of sexual abuse of May is trying to get his conviction overturned with the help of a new lawyer, according to a report on Time Warner Cable News. Sentencing for Michael Kelsey had been scheduled for July 8. It has been tentatively adjourned until Sept. 6, according to St. Lawrence County District Attorney Mary Rain. Brookfield Police K9 Officer Bruno Laid To Rest BROOKFIELD, Conn. -- Brookfield Police Department's K9 Officer, Bruno, was laid to rest Monday after eight years of service. He was 11.Bruno began his career at the Brookfield Police Department with Sgt. Jeffrey Osuch in January 2008, and faithfully served until this July.
