Detectives Trying To ID Newborn Abandoned On NJ Trash 37 Years Ago The day after Thanksgiving in 1986, sanitation workers in South Orange made a grisly discovery. A dead baby was found atop a trash can behind an apartment building at 5 Cottage Street in South Orange on Nov. 28, 1986, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said.  The body was wrapped in a towel and a yellow table runner and placed in a wicker picnic basket, which was left on the trash can, prosecutors said. Missing NJ Boater Reunited With Family After Week Adrift A boater out of Jersey City was reunited with his family last week after he went missing sailing to Bermuda, the Coast Guard said. No one had heard from the mariner since Monday, Nov. 6, and the Coast Guard Atlantic Area command center began a search and rescue effort, the Coast Guard said.  Another ship, the Time Bandit, heard an alert, and on Wednesday, Nov. 15, found a vessel that matched the description of the missing boat, the Coast Guard said. Evan Blauvelt, of Hewitt resident, was identified as as the man struck and killed by an NJ Transit train in Ramsey on the morning of Wednesday, Nov. 15, transit officials said Blauvelt, who was pronounced dead at the scene, is being remembered as a man who loved the outdoors, according to his obituary. Would-Be Crystal Meth Dealer Pleads Guilty In Atlantic County A 40-year-old Mays Landing man pleaded guilty to intending to distribute narcotics on Thursday, Nov. 16, authorities said. Juan Rodriguez-Gomez faces three years in state prison as part of a plea agreement, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said. Rodriguez-Gomez was initially arrested in Nov. 2020 after police conducted a search warrant at his May's Landing residence and found 29 grams of crack cocaine, fives grams of crystal meth and Oxycodone, prosecutors said.  He will be sentenced next February, prosecutors said.
