X20 in Yonkers Celebrates July 4 With Live DJ, Open Bar
YONKERS, N.Y. -- X20 will be holding the "Ultimate Birthday Party for America," a July fourth celebration with ringside seats for fireworks on the Hudson. The celebration will feature Peter Kelly and X20's food. A full open bar with special wines will be available, with a live DJ from dusk until the fireworks begin. New York State Legislature Approves Hotel Tax For Greenburgh
GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- The New York State Legislature approved a law that authorizes the Town of Greenburgh to generate additional needed revenue by having a 3 percent hotel tax. This tax could generate, from non-resident visitors, to the town significant revenue; approximately $200,000 to $500,000 a year. The money received will be used to reduce property tax bills and to comply with the tax cap. The town has been seeking permission to impose a hotel tax since at least 2009. Sen. Stewart-Cousins Pushes Dobbs Ferry Permit Parking System Bill
DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. -- Dobbs Ferry is one step closer to creating a permit parking system in the village, following passage of a bill introduced by state Sen. Andrea Stewart-Cousins and state Assemblyman Thomas Abinanti. The village requested the ability to create the system in order to provide parking relief for Dobbs Ferry residents who live near the train station and have difficulty parking on the street near their homes, according to a press release. Greenburgh Town Board Honors Woodlands High Student Samantha Simpson
GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- Woodlands High School student Samantha Simpson was honored last week by the Greenburgh Town Board for her efforts to beautify the school grounds. Simpson is the leader of the gardening club at the high school. She wants to continue to help the town look nicer and is seeking donations and partnerships with local nurseries and garden stores.
