Anthony 'Tony' Portanova, 82, Cofounder Of C&P Excavating Contractors
STAMFORD, Conn. -- Anthony "Tony" Portanova of Stamford died on Sunday, Jan. 4. He was 82.
He was born in Stamford on Jan. 13, 1932, to Ralph and Vincenza Tangi Portanova.
He served in the Navy from 1951 to 1955. Upon returning to Stamford, he formed C&P Excavating Contractors with partner Frank Cavaliere, which continued until 1988. In 1988, he established Portanova Excavating with his sons, Michael and David. He was held in high regard by all who knew him.

DARIEN, Conn. -- Anne Carleton Procter died of heart failure late on Dec. 24, 2014, in Oakland, Calif. while visiting her family for the Christmas holiday. She was 85 years old.
She was born on July 7, 1929 in Minneapolis, Minn. She spent her childhood with her four brothers in Minneapolis and on the family farm in River Falls, Wis.
During her high school years, she moved with her family to Denver, Colo. She graduated from Wellesley College in 1950. After college, she worked as a researcher in the chemistry departments of Cornell Medical School and Northwestern Medical School.

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Gladys J. Viesto died on Saturday, Jan. 3. She was 78.
Born in Stamford, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Gladys (Lewandowski) Kaswer.
Viesto was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was most proud of her marriage of 57 years to her husband Frank and of her family. She moved to The Villages from Stamford in 2006. She enjoyed playing bingo, pinochle, doing crosswords, puzzles and going to movies. She always enjoyed a good cup of coffee.

GREENWICH, Conn. -- Eileen Elizabeth Gove, a lifelong Greenwich resident, died in her home Sunday, Jan. 4. She was 92.
Gove was born in Greenwich on Sept. 4, 1922, to John and Elizabeth Keating Flannery.
She was a 1940 graduate of Greenwich High School. During the summer months, she could often be found at either Todd's Point or Island Beach. She was very proud of her Irish heritage, a great listener and always enjoyed a good laugh.

Julia Cipriano, 80, Of Danbury
DANBURY, Conn. -- Julia D. Cipriano, of Danbury, died on Tuesday, Jan. 6, at Danbury Hospital with her family at her side. She was 80.
She was the wife of Antonio D. Cipriano.
She was born in Serpins, Lousa, Portugal, a daughter of Jose and Maria de Jesus Encarancao. She immigrated to the United States and settled in Danbury in May of 1967. Before her retirement in 2008, she worked for Ullman Devices Corporation in Ridgefield. She was previously employed at American Radionics Co. in Danbury. She was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Danbury.
