Covid-19: Capital District Woman Admits To Pandemic Relief Fraud A woman from the Capital District is facing years in prison after admitting that she took advantage of loan programs meant to help businesses struggling due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Debra Hackstadt, age 67, of Albany, pleaded guilty Thursday, May 19, to fraudulently obtaining 32 government-backed loans, according to the US Attorney’s Office. Hudson Valley Man Accused Of Having Sexual Conduct With Child A New York man is behind bars, accused of sexually abusing a young child. Orange County resident Jairo Garcia, age 31, of Newburgh, was arrested Wednesday, May 18, following an investigation by Orange County Child Protective Services and New York State Police. Man, Woman Accused Of Trying To Use Credit Card Stolen At Commack Whole Foods Police on Long Island are looking for a duo accused of stealing a woman’s wallet and then attempting to use her credit cards. The man and woman nabbed the wallet from a shopping cart at Whole Foods in Commack Monday, March 14, according to Suffolk County Police. 911 Dispatcher Suspended After Hanging Up On Store Employee During Buffalo Shooting A 911 dispatcher could lose their job after reportedly hanging up on a store employee who called for help during the mass shooting in Buffalo. 25-Year-Old Hudson Valley Man Killed In Crash Remembered For 'Kind Heart' Family and friends are mourning a young Hudson Valley native who died this month in a car crash. Keith Jornov, age 25, from Ulster County, was killed Tuesday, May 10, in Herkimer County when his car was struck by a box truck on State Route 5S near Washington Street in German Flatts, according to New York State Police. Investigators said Jornov was hit after failing to stop at a stop sign. The impact sent his car off the roadway and knocked the box truck onto its passenger side, police said.
