Rensselaer County resident Todd Ward, age 45, of Troy, pleaded guilty to conspiring to defraud the New York State Department of Labor (NYSDOL) in Albany federal court in late June 2024. Man Struck, Killed By Amtrak Train In Capital Region A man has died after being struck by an Amtrak train in the region. The Rensselaer County incident happened in the town of Schodack, along River Road, just before 9 a.m. Friday, July 5. New York State Police an Amtrak train stopped and called emergency services after striking a pedestrian. Authorities located the man and pronounced him dead at the scene a short time later. Police are withholding his identity until his family has been notified. The railroad tracks were closed in both directions for nearly 3 ½ hours while crews investigated. The railway has since reopened.

Saratoga County resident Robert Crofut left his Moreau home at around 10 a.m. Friday, July 5, according to sheriff’s officials. He was driving a white 2011 Dodge Dakota pickup truck with New York license plate number 18186JE. Crofut, who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease, is 5-foot-7 and 120 pounds, and is bald with blue eyes.
