Fate Of $49.2 Bond — With $29M Option — For Bergen County High School Determined By Taxpayers One growing Bergen County high school is proposing a $49.2 million bond that would fund new construction and renovations, two years after a $55 million proposal was shot down by voters. Becton Regional High School serves students from East Rutherford, Carlstadt, and Maywood. Residents of East Rutherford and Carlstadt will vote on the proposed bond on March 12. Maywood, who in 2020 for the first time sent 340 of its students to BRHS, will not be voting but will contribute financially through its tuition contract if the bond is approved. Sled Rider, 14, Airlifted In Jersey Shore Crash Involving ATV, Tree: Police A 14-year-old child riding a sled was airlifted with serious injuries in a crash involving an ATV and a tree in Ocean County, officials said. The sled being pulled by the ATV, operated by a 15-year-old child, struck a tree around 1:15 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20 in a wooded area near  on Stump Tavern Road, Jackson Police Chief Matthew Kunz said. Speeding Fredericksburg Driver Dies In I-95 Crash: State Police A 34-year-old Fredericksburg man was killed in a crash on I-95 earlier this week. Lord Elsun J. Warren was heading south on the highway when his 2012 Nissan Altima ran off the left side of the road and struck a jersey wall around 1:45 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, Virginia State Police said. Warren, whose vehicle crashed at mile marker 146 in Stafford County, was taken to Stafford Hospital, where he later died. The driver was believed to have been speeding and not wearing a seatbelt, police said. The crash remains under investigation.
