Officer Shot Responding To Domestic Incident In Mercer County
A police officer was shot in Mercer County while responding to a domestic incident, authorities said. Hamilton officers were called to a disturbance on the 1800 block of Orchard Avenue around 2:20 a.m. when the gunman opened fire on the officers, the department said. The injured officer was taken to CHS-Fuld and is expected to survive. The Mercer County Prosecutor's Office and the New Jersey Attorney General's Office are investigating this incident.

Snow Showers Could End Storm Bringing 2 Inches Of Rain To NJ, PA: NWS
A weekend of rain could end in snow in parts of New Jersey and Pennsylvania, according to the National Weather Service. A flood watch for much the region from 1 p.m. Saturday through through Sunday evening as a low-pressure storm is set to bring up to drop two inches of rainfall, according to the NWS. Paired with the multiple rounds of rainfall from the past several days, this new round "is likely to bring several river gauges into flood stage across the Passaic, Raritan, and Rancocas basins by Sunday," the NWS said. Two Jersey Shore School Districts Could Merge After OK From State Officials
New Jersey's top education officials have signed-off on a referendum for a merger between two school districts. On Friday, March 8, Acting New Jersey Department of Education Commissioner Kevin Dehmer approved Seaside Heights merging with the Toms River Regional school district. The Central Regional School District had petitioned against the merger, but Dehmer said that Seaside Heights is closer in proximity to Toms River, so transportation will be cheaper and more time-efficient. A 22-year-old Maryland man has been sentenced for his role in a 2020 murder of a 17-year-old. Tyliek Anthony Spence, of Waldorf, was sentenced to life in prison with all but eight years suspended for his role in a murder on Thursday, March 7, State’s Attorney for Charles County Tony Covington said. Upon release, Spence will be on supervised probation for five years. Drivers Hid In Trunk, Struck State Trooper During Pursuits Hour Apart In Virginia: Police
Virginia State Police have arrested two Reston drivers, both who led pursuits less than an hour apart, they said. The first was at 9:54 p.m. Thursday, March 7, when Jevon T Mark was spotted driving recklessly on I-495 near S. Van Dorn Street, State Police said. The 23-year-old Reston man refused to stop for the trooper in a Jeep Cherokee initiating a pursuit, during which a firearm was thrown out the window. Police in Stafford have obtained warrants for a man who exposed himself in an apartment window earlier this week. The man, who authorities declined to name, was seen exposing his genitals in the window of an apartment on Setter Circle around 8:55 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, the county sheriff's office said.
