Ballston Macy's, Recently Approved For Redevelopment, Among 5 To Shutter Across U.S.
A Virginia Macy's store is among a handful to shutter across the U.S., a spokesperson confirmed.
Macy’s will close five full-line locations located at Ballston (Arlington, VA), Bay Fair (San Leandro, CA), Kukui Grove (Lihue, HI), Simi Valley Town Center (Simi Valley, CA), and Governor’s Square (Tallahassee, FL).
The closures mean more than 2,300 employees will be laid off, CNN reports. A Macy's spokesperson said its workforce will be reduced by 3.5% "to become a more streamlined company."

Pedestrians Bang On Car, Assault Driver Through Window In Arlington: Cops
Two pedestrians have been arrested for assaulting a driver in Arlington this week, authorities said.
Leonardo Guardado Navarro, 29, and Adonis Johnson, 20, were on foot when they became involved in an argument with a driver on the 3100 block of Wilson Boulevard around 10:40 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, county police said.
Navarro and Johnson began banging on the victim’s vehicle, causing property damage, and assaulted him through the open driver’s side window, police said.
The victim and one suspect suffered minor injuries that did not require medical attention.

Brooke Point High School Lacrosse Player Jake Sinclair Dies, 17
Jacob "Jake" Sinclair died on Jan. 16, 2024, at his home in Fredericksburg, according to his obituary on the Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service website.
Jake's obituary says he was a lacrosse player at Brooke Point High School, and remembers him as a "kind soul with a caring heart," who "always made people laugh." He was 17 years old.
People turned out in droves to pay their respects at his funeral on Thursday, Jan. 25, Jake's mom, Cindi Sinclair, tells Daily Voice.
