Shuttered Wedding Venue One Step Closer To Becoming First Grocery Store For NJ Town
One New Jersey town is about to get its first full-fledge supermarket in decades, and it'll be replacing a longtime wedding venue. Lidl is nearly complete with demolition to Snuffy’s Pantagis Renaissance, the more than 80-year-old wedding venue along Route 22 in Scotch Plains that shuttered sometime during the pandemic, according to Tom Strowe, the towns' director of redevelopment. Police have identified the couple found dead in a murder-suicide in Arlington this week. Nadejda Mossor, 22, and Jason Han, 37, who were in a relationship, were found by maintenance workers conducting a welfare check around 4:15 Monday, March 5, in their home on the 500 block of 12th Street S, police said. A 70-year-old man has been arrested after pepper-spraying a 16-year-old and the boy's dog in Northern Virginia, police said. A Virginia Army reservist was apparently no better than the people he thought he was fooling. Russell Laraway, 56, of Leesburg, admitted he fraudulently claimed more than $400,000 in a COVID relief fund scheme, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia Jessica D. Aber said. Being busted by the feds ultimately may have saved Laraway, though, who allegedly gave some of his hard-earned cash to foreign entities "in scams of which he was a victim," Aber's office said. Police are investigating the robbery of a bicyclist on the W&OD trail in Leesburg. The victim was riding his bike along the trail near East Market Street around 9:35 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, when he was confronted by five Hispanic males, local police said. Police have identified the driver killed in a Route 1 in New Brunswick early Wednesday, March .6 Dennis Frick, 65, of Freehold, was in a Ford pickup truck when he was struck by an Infiniti around 7:45 a.m. near the Morris Goodkind Bridge, according to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and New Brunswick Police Chief Vincent Frick was pronounced at the scene.
