Man Convicted Of Torturing, Killing Girlfriend's Pets At Her Home In Hudson Valley A man has admitted to torturing and killing his former girlfriend’s two pets inside her Hudson Valley home. Matthew Savinovich pleaded guilty in a Putnam County Court Tuesday, April 26, to two counts of aggravated cruelty to animals, one count of torturing animals, and one count of attempted burglary. Investigators said Savinovich, a New Jersey resident from the borough of Norwood in Bergen County, admitted to killing two of the woman’s chihuahuas by slamming them against a wall in her Lake Peekskill home. Massachusetts Man Admits To Attempting To Buy Jeep With Counterfeit Check A Massachusetts man is facing years behind bars after admitting to purchasing a Jeep using a counterfeit check. David Hogan, age 58, of Worcester, pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud Monday, April 25, in federal court in Boston. Prosecutors said Hogan visited a Newton dealership in March 2021 and gave them a $56,000 check for a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, which he then drove off the lot. But when the dealership tried cashing the check, they were told the bank account had been frozen, prosecutors said. 'Unfounded' Report Of Armed Man Prompts Police Response, Road Closures In Area Police say a 911 call about an armed man pointing a gun out of a window in Schenectady was “unfounded.” The call came in at around 10 a.m. Tuesday with an individual saying they had just seen a man pointing a “large gun” out of a window near S. Long Island Man Pleads Guilty In Fatal Drunk Driving Crash A Long Island man has admitted responsibility for a drunk driving crash that killed a woman in Bethpage. John Cappello, age 31, of Massapequa, pleaded guilty Wednesday, April 27, to multiple charges that include aggravated vehicular assault and manslaughter, Nassau County DA Anne Donnelly said. Cappello was “highly intoxicated - nearly three times the legal limit” on September 22, 2020, when he drove into oncoming traffic near Stewart and Linden avenues and crashed head-on into another car, Donnelly said. Drunk Driver Strikes Hudson Valley Residence, Crashes Into Creek, Sheriff Says A man from the region is accused of driving drunk and crashing into a house before ending up in a nearby creek, police said. The wreck happened at around 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 26 in Ulster County near Sawkill and Melissa roads in Kingston, the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office said. Duo Nabbed In Area With Loaded Shotgun, Child In Vehicle, Police Say Two men are facing criminal charges after they were allegedly caught with a loaded shotgun in their car in the area, police said. Dutchess County residents Christopher Craft Sr., age 55, and Jeremy Craft, age 32, both of Rhinebeck, were arrested following a traffic stop Wednesday, April 20, in Hyde Park. Man Accused Of Pulling Gun During Argument In Area An Albany man is facing multiple charges for allegedly pulling a gun during an argument in Saratoga County. Robert Maciong, age 26, was arrested in Malta Friday, April 22, on a warrant that was issued following the incident in October 2021, the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office said.
