Tanker With Thousands Of Gallons Of Tar Crashes In Hudson Valley A sticky situation was averted when a tanker truck carrying 8,000 gallons of tar overturned on a Hudson Valley roadway. Emergency crews in Ulster County were called just after 8 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, with reports of an overturned semi-truck with a tanker trailer in the Town of Esopus, at the intersection of Old Post Road and Maple Street. Police in Columbia County were called at around 4:45 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, with reports that a man had been attacked and robbed in Hudson. The victim told Hudson Police he was walking near 4th Street and Long Alley when two men approached him. Police Seek Burglars Who Stole $750 Worth Of Items From Long Island Country Club Police are looking for four suspects believed to have broken into a Long Island country club and stole hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise. The break-in occurred just before 9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31, in Hewlett Harbor, at the Seawane Country Club, located on Club Drive. NY Declares Polio State Of Emergency After Virus Detected In Several New Counties New York Gov. Kathy Hochul declared a state disaster emergency Friday, Sept. 9, after polio was found in more wastewater samples. The executive order will immediately expand the network of polio vaccine administrators with the addition of EMS workers, midwives, and pharmacies. 4 Charged With Conspiring To Distribute Cocaine In Capital District Four men from the region are facing federal charges for allegedly running a cocaine ring in the Capital District. Between June and December 2021, the group obtained numerous packages that were shipped by US Mail from Puerto Rico to addresses in Albany and Rensselaer counties, according to the US Attorney’s Office in the northern district. Inside each package was approximately one kilogram (2.2 pounds) of cocaine, prosecutors said. Search Underway For Fisherman Whose Boat Capsized In Hudson Valley River Emergency crews were searching for a missing fisherman in the Hudson Valley Thursday afternoon, Sept. 8. State police and other first responders in Orange County were called at around 7:30 a.m. to an area of the Delaware River in the town of Deerpark with reports of a missing fisherman. Investigators determined that two men had been fishing on the river near Cherry Island State Park when their boat capsized. Person Struck By Car, Killed In Capital District A person has died after being struck by a car in the Capital District. The incident happened at around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, in Schenectady, near State and Spruce streets, police said. When officers arrived, they found a female pedestrian lying in the street.
