22-Year-Old Woman Killed In July 4th Shooting During Party At CT Residence Police in Connecticut are asking for witnesses to a fatal shooting that left a 22-year-old woman dead and a man injured to step forward and help detectives identify the suspects. It happened in Hartford at 29 Shultas Place, around 2:15 a.m., Monday, July 4, during a large street party. Police officers responded to the home on a report of a person shot. Upon arrival, officers located Jayla Heaven, of Hartford, unresponsive, said Lt. Aaron Boisvert of the Hartford Police. Firefighter Injured After Smoldering Fireworks Left In Dumpster On Long Island One firefighter was burned on the leg after someone left smoldering fireworks in a dumpster on Long Island. The incident took place around 12:15 a.m., Tuesday, July 5 in Hicksville on 16 W Marie St. According to police, officers responded to a building fire caused by smoldering fireworks left in a dumpster next to the structure, said the Nassau County Police. NY Lifeguard Speaks Out After Being Attacked By Shark A Long Island lifeguard bitten by a shark during a training exercise is grateful he survived the attack and is counting his blessings. Smith Point Beach lifeguard Zachari Gallo, age 33, told CBS New York he felt a sharp, sharp pain around 10:15 a.m., Sunday, July 3, during a training exercise with other lifeguards and reached down and felt a rubbery texture. As soon as he felt the texture he knew it was a shark and hit the estimated 5-foot shark three times in an effort to escape. Bicyclist Killed In Long Island Crash With Car, Police Say A 70-year-old bicyclist was killed when he crashed with a car on Long Island. The crash took place in Suffolk County in Amagansett around 11:15 a.m., Sunday, July 3 on Montauk Highway. Russell Windsor, age 70, of Amagansett, was killed when he entered the highway from the eastbound shoulder of the road and collided with a 2011 Toyota Sienna driven by Mohammad Rahman, said Det. Sgt. White Plains Man Nabbed For Child Porn Following Fatal Crash, Police Say A Hudson Valley man was nabbed on child porn charges following an investigation into a fatal motorcycle crash.
