29-Year-Old Hudson Valley Man Shot To Death, Police Say A 29-year-old Hudson Valley man was found shot to death after police responded to a Shotspotter activation. The incident took place in Orange County in the city of Newburgh around 11:50 p.m., Wednesday, July 27 in the area of Lake Drive. When officers responded to the activation, they found a Newburgh resident who had been shot in the upper chest and bicep, said the City of Newburgh Police. NY Woman Killed By Her Own Dog In Backyard Attack A 70-year-old New York woman was killed by the family's 100-pound pit bull that was later killed by police. The Long Island incident took place in the hamlet of Albertson in North Hempstead on Wednesday, July 27 around 1:20 p.m. in the backyard of a home on Terrace Court. Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder said during a news conference the woman's husband came home and found the dog attacking his wife in the backyard. Magnitude 2.5 Earthquake Reported In Upstate NY A 2.5 magnitude earthquake was reported in upstate New York during the early morning hours. The quake, centered in Saint Regis Falls in Franklin County, close to the Canadian border, hit about 12:50 a.m. on Wednesday, July 27. Experts with the US Geological Survey said shaking was felt as far as 31 miles away, but no damage was reported from the quake that was considered "shallow." Man Drove Drunk With Two Kids In Vehicle On Route 6 In Yorktown, Police Say A man from the region has been arrested for alleged aggravated DWI after his two children got out of the vehicle on a busy roadway because they were afraid of crashing, police say. Rare Possible Bobcat Sighting Reported On Long Island Police are searching for what could be a bobcat after receiving a report of a wild cat on Long Island. The sighting took place in Suffolk County in the area of Boulevard Avenue in West Islip around 10:40 a.m., Tuesday, July 26. Police responded to the area and the animal was not located, said the Suffolk County Police. Nypd Officer Arrested For Long Island Road-Rage Incident An off-duty NYPD officer has been charged in an alleged road-rage incident on Long Island. The incident took place in Selden around 11:20 a.m. Saturday, July 23. Douglas Debonet, age 32, of Selden, was arrested after he exited his car at Old Town Road and County Road 83 in Selden and broke a side view mirror on a vehicle involved in the incident, said the Suffolk County Police. Body Found At Stamford Park, Police Say A man was found dead in a Fairfield County park with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The incident took place in Stamford at Scalzi Park on Tuesday, July 26. Officers are conducting a death investigation after the body of the 33-year-old Stamford resident was found in the park, said Lt. Tom Scanlon, of the Stamford Police.
