Somers School Group Seeks Mentors For Students
SOMERS, N.Y. -- TEAM Tuskers is seeking volunteers for its one-on-one mentoring programs at Somers' Middle and Intermediate schools.
The group is hosting informational meetings at 4 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 19; 9 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 20; and 6 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 25, at the middle school.
Students participating in the program meet for an hour each week with their mentors at the middle school, which is at 250 Route 202.
Mentoring candidates will be screened -- which includes undergoing a background check and fingerprinting -- before they are trained, the group said.

North Castle Releases Fall Recreation Brochure
NORTH CASTLE, N.Y. -- North Castle’s Recreation and Parks Department’s fall brochure describing its programs, facilities and special events has arrived.
Residents received postcards in the mail notifying them that the brochure is now online. Printed copies are available at the Hergenhan Recreation Center, 40 Maple Ave., Armonk.
Among the classes being offered are basketball, art, basic computer programming, line dancing, defensive driving, and yoga.
