Esther Edwards, 96, Of Stamford, Retired Seamstress STAMFORD, Conn. -- Esther “Ethel” Ruth Edwards, a retired seamstress, of Stamford, died Saturday, Sept. 18 at Stamford Hospital. She was 96. Edwards was born Feb. 13, 1919, in Santiago, Cuba, to Peter and Florence Jeffers. She is survived by her children, Valerie, Joy, and Ricky (Jackie); grandchildren, Tenisha, Anthony, and Kelsey; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Funeral services and visitation are at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 1231 Washington Blvd., Stamford. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, New Canaan. Putnam Sheriff Seeks Woman, 26, On Hypodermic Instrument Possession Charge SOUTHEAST, N.Y. -- The Putnam County sheriff is asking the public to help authorities locate a suspect wanted on charges of possessing a hypodermic instrument, police said. Lucy C. Schafrann, 26, of Harrison, was the subject of a bench warrant issued in February in the Town of Southeast Court. Schafrann has brown hair and brown eyes, and weighs about 120 pounds police said. Police are asking anyone with any information about Schafrann’s whereabouts to contact the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department at (845) 808-4357.
