Pelham's Picture House Offers Ways To Celebrate The Holidays
PELHAM, N.Y. – Looking for something to put in that special someone’s stocking in Pelham this Christmas?
The Picture House Regional Film Center has a suggestion – a membership with discounted ticket and concession prices, and early access to exclusive events.
With varied film programming, special advance screenings, live music and dance performances, there’s really something for everyone at The Picture House this December, it said.

Warner Library Holds Reading For Westchester Review Poets, Writers
TARRYTOWN, N.Y. -- New York artist, teacher, and cellist Lisa Olsson was among prose authors and poets published by the Westchester Review who read their work at the Warner Library in Tarrytown in November.
Olsson, who is studying poetry at the Hudson Valley Writers Center in Sleepy Hollow, has been published in other publications such as the Ginosko Literary Journal, Les Femmes Folles, and Five Two Poetry Crime.

Musician To Donate CD's Proceeds To South Salem's Wolf Conservation Center
SOUTH SALEM, N.Y. -- The haunting sound of a wolf howling may send a shiver down some folks’ spines, but it’s music to the ears of singer/songwriter Steve Jackson.
Jackson, the founder and front man for a Dallas-area band, Acoustic Distortion, is donating 50 percent from each purchase of his new CD, “Goodnight Moon,” to the Wolf Conservation Center in South Salem.
The center, founded in 1999 by Helene Grimaud, is a private, nonprofit environmental education organization.

Poughkeepsie Farm Project Boasts Record Produce Harvest
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- The Poughkeepsie Farm Project, a community-based agriculture cooperative, is reported that it has harvested a record amount of food this year, according to a report on TWC News.
The project offers educational programs, demonstrations and cooking workshops to children in the Poughkeepsie school district, according to its website.
It also distributes produce to local charities and sponsored families in need.
According to the TWC News report, it was able to gather and distribute 183,000 pounds of food, 32,000 pounds more than it did last year.

Danbury Club Recognizes Wcsu Student For Her Military Service
DANBURY, Conn. -- Senior Airman Kathless Cass, a nursing student at Danbury’s Western Connecticut State University, has been recognized for her military service.
Cass, a Seymour native, served with the U.S. Air Force while on active duty in Texas, Alaska, and Ohio. She received a $2,000 scholarship from the Exchange Club of Danbury.
Now in her second year of studies at WCSU, Cass received the award at the club’s Veterans Day dinner on Nov. 12.

New Canaan Newcomers Holiday House Tour To Support Darien's Tiny Miracles
NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- Proceeds from this year’s Holiday House Tour in New Canaan will go to support Tiny Miracles, a local nonprofit that helps families with premature babies, organizers said.
Doors will be open at the five merrily decked-out homes Friday and Saturday. The tour is sponsored by the New Canaan Newcomers Club.
